WORN EDIT

Damage Policy

How Worn Edit handles damage to items during swaps.

Damage Policy

Worn Edit is built on trust and care. Most swaps go smoothly, but in the rare event that an item is damaged during a swap or pickup, this policy explains how to report it and how we handle claims.

This policy applies to damage to items exchanged through Worn Edit and to issues that occur during a confirmed swap. It does not replace your own insurance or legal obligations.

Overview

  • Members must report damage promptly and provide clear details and evidence.
  • Worn Edit will review claims and may contact both members to gather context.
  • Outcomes are based on the facts, the item’s condition as listed, and any evidence provided.
  • Worn Edit may take account action when damage is tied to negligence, misrepresentation, or Code of Conduct violations.

Reporting a Damage Issue

To be eligible for review, the reporting member must contact Worn Edit support within seven (7) days of pickup confirmation.

Include:

  • A detailed description of the damage and when it was discovered.
  • Photos or video that clearly show the issue.
  • The original listing and any relevant messages between members.
  • Receipts or proof of value, if available.

If you are traveling or otherwise unable to report within seven days, contact support as soon as possible and explain the delay. We may, at our discretion, consider extensions when there is a reasonable explanation.

Member Expectations

For Requesters

If you notice damage after pickup or during inspection, report it immediately through Worn Edit support. Do not attempt to conceal damage. Honest, timely reporting is required under the Member Code of Conduct.

For Listers

If you discover damage to an item after it leaves your possession, report it promptly. Provide the original listing details and any evidence showing the item’s prior condition.

Review and Resolution

Worn Edit will review the claim and may:

  • Ask for additional information from either member.
  • Compare the reported damage against the listing description and photos.
  • Consider pickup context and any relevant communications.

If a claim is verified, Worn Edit may determine appropriate outcomes, which may include credit adjustments, account warnings, temporary pauses, or other remedies in line with our Terms and Code of Conduct.

Exclusions

The following are typically not eligible for remediation:

  • Normal wear and tear consistent with the item’s listed condition.
  • Pre-existing damage that was disclosed or visible in the listing.
  • Issues reported outside the required timeframe without a valid reason.
  • Damage or loss caused by misuse or improper handling after pickup.

Fraudulent or Bad-Faith Claims

Submitting false or exaggerated claims violates the Member Code of Conduct. Worn Edit may suspend or remove members who submit fraudulent claims and may pursue additional actions when appropriate.
